I apologise for my absence if there is anyone who reads my blog. This time of the year is always crazeee! Not only did I have christmas to organize for (it totally snuck up on me this year), I have countless birthdays and weekends spent rarely at home in the good ol month of December. Although I still managed to make a yummy maple syrup and walnut cheesecake!
This year was a stiffling 40 degrees, considering the weather around the world I guess I should count myself lucky. With the Eastern states of Australia flooding and Europe/US having ridiculous amount of snow dumped on them sending flights and travel into a chaotic mess, I guess Perth isn't such a bad place to be at the moment.
Little miss lost is still lost, but thinking of postponing her trip to America and move indefinitely to Melbourne. I feel as if I need to move forward and create a new chapter of my life and do it while I'm still single and baby free. Hopefully I'll get clarification and realise what I want to do. Life is an ongoing journey and I now feel like its time for a different direction. Problem is I have a house and two dogs, anyone have any suggestions or pointers on moving, I'd really appreciate it!

I'm melting, melting.........
It is Monday my RDO, the first I have managed to actually have off in a few weeks and its is a sweltering 36 degrees! My air conditioning conveniently decided to stop working last week, so I am dripping whilst trying to get in some much needed housework. I desperately want to hit the beach (only a 10 min drive from mine, just one awesome thing about living in Perth) but the bad thing about having a Monday off is everyone else is working.
Its been a little while and we're about to hit the silly season and it is about to get much worse. I must say I prefer to be out and about rather then have nothing to do, but my poor little house suffers from my absence. I'm sure I'll get there eventually bit by bit.
I also have a self inflicting limp which also makes life a little difficult. A few weeks ago I decided to play basketball again. I used to play when I was much younger, but the impact sport wasn't doing anything for my dodgy knees and ankle so I reluctantly stopped, until now, when I decided enough was enough I need to get fit again and the gym just doesn't cut it for me.
Unfortunately I momentarily forgot the ol bod aint what it used to be, didn't warm up enough and proceeded to injure the biggest quad muscle you have. That was 2 weeks ago.......off to the physio I go, here's hoping it will heal very soon, preferably before Southbound! A huge 3 day festival held in Busselton I cannot wait. Really looking forward to Kitty Daisy and Lewis, Bliss n Esso, Ladyhawke, Tame Impala, Public Enemy, Paul Kelly and Dan Sultan. I'm a Southbound virgin so can't wait to pop my cherry!
Prob best to stay home, staying home equates to not spending money which at late is what I am trying to do. Planning on hitting South America for my big 30 late next year, I must save like Ive never saved before. So probably hitting the antique show wasn't such a good idea in hindsight and having a lady mark down a gorgeous, huge hand painted Japanese tea set from $230 - $170, didn't help. Well you only live once and I now own something I can hand down and apparently use according to the lady selling it to me. One problem with that I don't own a table ha ha!
On one last note - Life is precious, make every moment count, you never know when your time is up............

I'm back........
Well I've been back for a week, but it seems to have taken that long to get my act back together. We were lucky enough to get near perfect weather in New Zealand and miss another earthquake in Christchurch by a couple of days!
What a beautiful, scenic country the South Island is, I am officially in love with Queenstown and after initially wanted to hit Queenstown to ski I'm debating whether spring/summer is the time to go. It has such a great relaxed vibe. We were lucky enough to have some spare time there and I spent afternoon eating lunch at a Irish pub right near to a awesome busker, followed by a massive ice cream served by a hottie from Argentina (Queenstown is full of young people from all over the world) and then ended feeding ducks and just watching them by the lake. I haven't felt that relaxed in a long time, who knew such simple things can bring so much serenity and joy.
Queenstown was definitely the best, Christchurch was pretty, but doesn't have alot happening there and all the little stops on the way were nice, but Queenstown is so much more appealing. After a week of indulging in very rich food and four course dinners most nights I am getting back on the health and well being wagon and starting to eat better, walk my dogs and as of Tuesday night start playing basketball again. I won't lie I'm a little scared, but looking forward to it. Here's hoping I don't do myself a serious injury this bod aint what it used to be.........wish me luck!
On a completely seperate note, yay to Burma finally releasing pro-democracy leader Aung Sung Su Chi without any conditions! Here's hoping this is a step forward for Burma.

5 more sleeps, NZ here I come!
Now, as hard a job it is and even though its not a high paying job, being a travel agent sometimes has its perks. I am going to the South Island of New Zealand for work for a glorious whole week! When a travel agent says she's going on a trip for work, usually that's what they mean.
You hardly get any free time, you have to inspect up to 5 hotels a day, which doesn't sound a lot, but hotels insist on you seeing every room type (even the ones you never sell) and after the first few they all start to mesh together and you forget what whats!
Not the case on a scenic tours educational. A 5 star touring company, you get to experience what a client would on the same trip and we only have 2 hotel inspections, of which we are staying at anyway, on the whole trip! They weather will be quite cool, which I don't mind, fingers crossed it will snow in Queenstown! The only time I saw snow was in Canada when I was aboard the train that does the Rockie's and what a experience that was!
My personal trip in Feb is also booked to stay a week in Kota Kinabalu. Since Malaysian bought super cheap flights and they now fly direct from Perth (which now only takes 5 1/2 hours) I thought instead of Bali, again, I'd go back to KK. Its been 5 years so I'm sure it would've changed by now. Also bought my overnight side trip to Sandakan for a mere $30AUD, thank you Air Asia! Will be staying near the orangutan Sepilok centre so I check out the gorgeous creatures in there natural habitat. Have to say at the moment, not got much to complain about, life is good!

Vintage finds and spring, what a combo!
Not much to report for today. I had my RDO and I spent it trying to clear out more of my clutter and trying to be brutal getting rid of clothes in my wardrobe.
But yesterday I helped my cousin out in my first vintage fair in Fremantle and even made some extra mullah on the way. It was at Fremantle town hall a beautiful old hall in the middle of Fremantle, perfect setting for some vintage wares and entertainment in between. The weather was perfect, sunny spring weather.
A fantastic swing dance group kicked of the entertainment, followed by a Lucy Ball impersonator and a dancing envelope ha ha I probably missed a few whilst manning the fort, but technically that was what I was there for.
I got rid of my beloved boots from Chiang Mai, a couple of dresses and even sold a few of my handmade rings (I'll leave them for a new post). Since I made a nice little profit I treated myself to a beautiful navy and checked dress in mint condition. Know Ive had a taste I just may have to share another stall with my cousin!

Thrift shop finds and spring cleaning
Soooo yesterday I had the day off and decided to stop procrastinating and try to at least start to de clutter my house. So I lugged 2 garbage bags full of clothes (I still have 4 to get rid of, but trying to earn some extra dosh for those) off to the local thrift shop and thought while I was there I'd have a gander.
I'm helping out my cousin at a stall at the vintagevixensandvamps.blogspot.com Fair in Freo this Sunday and found a few things to add to the collection and completely by accident another dress to my wardrobe. It fits like a glove so I think it was fate, well that's my story and I'm sticking to it! I don't have a red dress and was thinking of getting one, when I came across this baby.
The label reads lovers Australia, not really clued in on labels, I just like what I like. It looks 80's maybe early 90's and apart from the fixable hem its in mint condition. Thrift shopping isn't what it used to be and I refuse to pay the inflated prices "vintage" items can cost just because its in fashion, but you can still find some gems in the charity stores and it goes to a good cause. By the way I'm not implying I did the whole thing before it was cool, my auntie got me into it when I was younger and when I studied art I had a little extra time and less money to op shop lol
Not quite as much as I wanted to do around the house but spring also equals to hay fever, baby steps......
